Locus Robotics Revolutionizes Warehouse Logistics at “The Creative Club”

July 22, 2025

Europe’s leading online fabric retailer optimizes its entire fulfillment processes with AI-powered robotic technology

Stuttgart – 22 July 2025 - Locus Robotics, a global leader in flexible, AI-driven warehouse automation, today announced the successful implementation of its LocusOne™ platform at The Creative Club. This platform will now centrally orchestrate and manage 45 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) of the Locus Origin type, continuously improving task distribution, route planning, and resource utilization to enable efficient, scalable, and data-driven warehouse operations.

The Creative Club is a leading online retailer for fabrics, sewing accessories, and digital sewing patterns, based in Schenefeld near Hamburg. The company operates a multi-pillar business model: On one hand, it offers sewing enthusiasts a wide range of fabrics and haberdashery through its twelve online shops across Europe. On the other hand, it enables external designers to sell their digital sewing patterns and e-books. Additionally, TCC acts as a fulfillment service provider for small businesses and startups, handling storage, picking, and shipping of their products. This combination of creative e-commerce offerings and powerful logistics makes The Creative Club a versatile player in the European online retail market.

The company automated its approximately 11,000 m² fulfillment center within just a few weeks using Locus Robotics technologies, optimizing all its warehouse processes. In particular, the previously manual picking and shipping preparation of ordered items is now a thing of the past. With the support of the mobile robot fleet provided by Locus under a highly flexible Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, order processing is now significantly more efficient. This not only increases customer satisfaction but also enables a very rapid return on investment (ROI).

Before the collaboration, The Creative Club faced specific challenges: Continuous business growth combined with the goal of reducing variable costs required a completely new logistics setup. The company sought a scalable solution offering innovative ways to redesign and adapt warehouse structure and processes. For example, picking fabrics by the meter, which requires a special cutting process, was particularly complex. Before automation, these fabrics had to be transported long distances to separate cutting stations, processed there, and the remaining quantities returned to storage, a time and labor-intensive process that impacted the efficiency of the entire fulfillment center.

Intelligent Redesign of the Warehouse Layout

The warehouse infrastructure was strategically adapted during the LocusOne™ implementation to significantly shorten travel paths and streamline processes. By optimizing the layout of work areas, manual intermediate steps were reduced and certain consolidation processes were eliminated. This not only freed up additional space but also significantly reduced internal returns. This intelligent use of space demonstrates how flexible automation solutions can not only optimize processes but also enable entirely new operational approaches.

“It is particularly noteworthy that our logistics staff embraced the robots from the start”, says Tobias Kappelmann, Chief Operations Officer at The Creative Club. “Working with the bots is seen as a real relief in daily operations—some colleagues even gave them humorous movie-inspired names, which further contributes to a positive team dynamic.”

“Our successful collaboration with The Creative Club impressively demonstrates how German companies can sustainably strengthen their competitiveness through innovative automation solutions,” emphasizes Denis Niezgoda, Chief Commercial Officer, International at Locus Robotics. “The project highlights our growing presence in the German market and shows how our innovative technologies can deliver measurable improvements even in specialized sectors like the DIY industry.”

“Another success factor was the excellent collaboration between The Creative Club, Locus Robotics, and the provider of our warehouse management system, EPG,” adds Tobias Kappelmann, Chief Operations Officer at The Creative Club. “Close coordination and joint problem-solving enabled a smooth and particularly swift implementation. This transition is an important, forward-looking step for us to sustainably modernize our logistics processes and prepare optimally for further growth.”
