We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for robotics to join the Robot Software Team as a Robotics Software Engineer, Perception.

In this role, you will be part of the multidisciplinary team that develops the software that drives our Autonomous Mobile Robot fleet. Specifically, as part of the Perception group, you will help advance the software that allows robots to fully utilize their onboard sensor hardware and perceive their environment accurately. This is the foundation that enables robots to navigate the warehouse floor smoothly, to avoid hazards, to know exactly where they are in the building, to identify objects of interest and much more. This encompasses things like producing raw sensor streams from custom drivers, filtering data for different purposes and implementing advanced processing of that data to enable sophisticated robot behaviors.

This onsite role is based out of our Wilmington, MA office.  (hybrid).

Responsibilities

  •     Advance our robots' capability to perceive their environment for safe and effective robot operation.
  •     Write computationally efficient software that takes advantage of available perception-related algorithms.
  •     Ensure software quality through proper testing and automated CI/CD quality and regression checks.
  •     Follow clean-code best practices for software maintainability and readability.
  •     Deliver features on time and in line with our release cycle.
  •     Identify opportunities to improve the existing stack.
  •     Implement, create and/or maintain sensor drivers and filters.
  •     Evaluate new sensors of interest as they become available.

Qualifications

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  •     2+ years of experience working with Autonomous Mobile Robots.
  •     C++ and Python proficiency.
  •     Familiarity with ROS (1 & 2) and its mobile robot stack.
  •     Familiarity with Robotic sensors commonly, such a lidar, depth, IMUs, stereo cameras, ToF, etc.
  •     Knowledge of Machine Learning and Computer/Robot Vision fundamentals.
  •     Familiarity with sensor libraries like PCL and OpenCV.
  •     Experience collaborating in large-scale, distributed software projects. Knowledge of Git a must.
  •     Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
