Locus Robotics is seeking a Principal Embedded Controls Engineer to join our Hardware development team. In this role you'll develop, test, and support firmware and electronics for AMRs as part of a fast-paced cross-functional team.

This hybrid role is based in our Wilmington, MA office. Onsite at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement embedded functionality for brushless motor control and lithium battery charging.
  • Collaborate in design and code reviews with other team members.
  • Create and execute tests to characterize and verify the design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control systems issues identified in testing, production, and in the field.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in embedded development for high volume electro-mechanical products.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing C/C++ for embedded microcontrollers required.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and tuning real-time closed-loop motion control for Mechatronic systems including BLDC motors.
  • Able to read schematics and use an oscilloscope and other test equipment to independently troubleshoot electrical and firmware issues.
  • Experience with STM32F series processors and peripherals a plus.
  • Familiar with Linux, Qt, and Python a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects with shifting deadlines and requirements. 
  • Proficient English written and verbal communications skills required to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
