The booths are down, the Georgia World Congress Center floors are quiet (until the next tradeshow), and the LocusBots are on their way home along with their human colleagues, but the energy and memories of MODEX 2024 remain high.
It was the largest MODEX yet with over 40,000 attendees and 1,200 exhibitors — they even opened up an additional hall this year to accommodate everyone.
If you were there — or if you couldn’t make it and want to know what you missed — these are the top MODEX moments to remember from the team that worked our Locus Robotics’ booth.
Robots Were Everywhere
This isn’t a huge surprise — and especially not to us — but automation is here to stay and only getting more popular instead of less. Out of the 1,200 exhibitors present at MODEX, over 25% of them had to do with robotics or automation or both.
That amount of options can be daunting, but we have two ways to help you break through the clutter and figure out the right automation solution for your warehouse.
AI in the Warehouse
AI was the talk of the town with over 60 theater presentations talking about the next-gen technology, including keynote speaker Gerd Leonhard, CEO of The Futures Agency and Founder of The Good Future Project, who spoke about digital ethics and AI.
But how does AI really help the warehouse? Our VP of Corporate Development, Gina Chung, gave a standing room only (people were gathered outside the theater as well to listen in) presentation on AI in the Warehouse: What You Really Need to Know. In case you missed it, she discussed when the use of AI is essential; the key areas of AI value creation, and how AI is used in our solution. Take a peek at the slide deck here.
Technology is the Future of Supply Chain
Bill Seward, President of UPS Supply Chain Solutions, delivered the keynote address at MODEX 2024. In his keynote, he highlighted the impact of technology on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction at UPS. He pointed to the recent debut of UPS Supply Chain Symphony, a comprehensive platform integrating 17 distinct supply chain facets, including shipping, warehousing, and inventory management, which generated $3 billion in revenue last year.
MHI’s Industry Report Revealed
On Wednesday at MODEX, MHI CEO John Paxton discussed the MHI 2024 Annual Industry Report, saying that “AI is the word of the year.” The biggest potential areas of application for AI in the supply chain according to the survey respondents are: logistics, shipping, and transportation (34%); supplier selection/due diligence (33%); inventory management (27%); customer behavior tracking (24%); contracts (24%); pricing (23%); and demand forecasting (19%).
Intelligent Insights are a Must
On Tuesday, we announced the release of our LocusHub business intelligence engine. LocusHub is an integral component of our LocusOne platform, harnessing advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver predictive and prescriptive insights that maximize productivity, lower costs and unlock new levels of warehouse intelligence.
Now that you’ve seen what you missed at MODEX, you don’t have to wait until next year to improve your warehouse operations. Locus Robotics can help you now! From picking to putaway; replenishment to returns, we have the dynamic robotics automation solution to meet your fulfillment requirements.
