Cardinal Health is a Fortune 14 company that services the healthcare industry for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. They manufacture and distribute their own products and also distribute national brand products out of their Montgomery New York facility. When dealing with mission-critical products, accuracy and timing are vital. It was important for Cardinal Health to utilize a reliable and dependable solution for their Montgomery distribution center that would also help them battle the unpredictable labor market.
The Solution
After evaluating options, the Cardinal Health team chose Locus Robotics to automate their Montgomery, NY distribution center. The Locus Robotics solution allows them to pick, pack, and ship products on time and improve their overall processes. Locus Robotics deployed autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) along with a suite of actionable reporting tools and dashboards. This installation included a systems integration with the WMS and network, a solution design of the facility and workflow, and the implementation of the robots including navigation and pick testing.
The Results
The Cardinal Health team tripled their pick productivity and significantly decreased their cycle times, resulting in faster fulfillment of client orders. The ability to increase their throughput is especially valuable: it allows them to bring in additional clients to their Montgomery Distribution Center that they had originally planned for other distribution centers.
