IT Internship (Summer 2024, Onsite)

Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing and optimizing existing facility infrastructure.

The IT Intern role is designed to provide hands-on work experience and skill building for college students interested in pursuing a career in Information Technology.  

In this role, you will learn essential skills and gain substantial personal learning and career development opportunities through ownership of real-world IT assignments, strong coaching and mentorship.  This role reports to the IT Manager.

During this internship, Locus Robotics will be moving its corporate headquarters to a new location a few miles away.  This role will also support the disassemble and setup of IT and office equipment at the new location.  

  • Location:  Daily onsite in Wilmington, MA corporate headquarters.
  • Internship period: 12 weeks from May/June to August/September 2024.
  • Full Time, 40 hours per week, paid internship
  • Hours: 8 – 5 PM EST   May require a few Saturday/Sunday weekend hours to support the move.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to employee IT support requests (assisting with topics such as VPN, remote support, LDAP and Wi-Fi set up, software installation, password issues/resets, or other unique technical problems that may arise).
  • Assist with building move (labeling, packing, moving <50lbs, pushing carts, use of hand tools/power tools, other various moving out tasks) (loading, unloading, desk set ups, etc.).
  • Deploy/configure server patches.
  • Implement security configurations.
  • Create PowerShell scripts for task automation.
  • Setup new laptops (OS install, configurations, MDM, etc.).
  • Edit and improve Azure/entraID configurations.
  • Enhance and build out IT documentation and procedures.
  • Manage active directory for end user devices and computers.
  • Install company approved Window/Mac/Linux software applications.
  • Manage Inventory Control (labeling, counting, fixing inventory quantities).
  • Update existing data in spreadsheets and systems.
  • Support shipping of end-user devices and network equipment.
  • Assist IT team with various projects and day to day tasks.

 Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a associate or bachelor IT degree program.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
  • Comfortable with both Windows and Mac machines, including technical aspects such as OS configuration, USB boot, registry editing, and basic command line functionality.
  • Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Drive, Zoom.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with guidance as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent English written/verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times per hour.
